Our logo uses pendants from a traditional necklace that represent and are shaped as tents. In Tuareg society, the tent is the central living space and centre of a woman’s world of work; thus, it is the heart of the community. Tents are named after the wife and she is the owner of the tent. Speaking to the value of tents in Tuareg culture is the ancient ancestress and queen of the Tuareg, known to her people as Tin Hinan, or “she of the tents.” We chose to use tent-shaped pendants, as the tent is where culture is created, experienced, and passed down through generations. Through “The Tent,” we aim to create a space that contributes to the esteemed tradition of cultural preservation and transmission.
